Top 2 Tuesday: Favorite U.S. Cities

1. Gatlinburg, Tennessee

When I think of a place I would like to disappear to in the United States, it always ends with Gatlinburg. I have not been there since I was a little kid, but the memories still seem as strong as if I was there yesterday. I remember walking around the city seeing the mountain lifts moving, running around Dolly Wood with my siblings, eating at the delicious Apple Barn, and more. Last time I was there, I got to experience my little sister, Melissa, take her very first steps. I remember witnessing this with my mom in the lobby of the hotel we were staying at.

Gatlingburg seems like it would never get old with me because its such a beautiful, peaceful place. Also, there is so much you could experience there, it would never get old! I hope one day Gregg and I will be able to take a family trip there as well just like my parents took me and my siblings. And heck, it would be fun to go camping there one year as well.

2. San Francisco, California

I know this place is kind of random, but every now and then it pops into my head. I went to San Francisco twice in my lifetime. The first time was in November of 2007. I met up with some military girlfriends of mine for a week. The second time was for two days when Gregg and I had to drive from Washington State to Tennessee. This place reminds me of a great place to raise a family...I always think of Full House.

When I was there, I got to see the Bay Bridge, Monteray Bay Aquarium, walk along one of the ports, eat the best bagel I have ever experienced, and more. It was so much fun and so exciting! It was unlike any city I have ever been to before.

2010 Emmy Fashion

I am sure every girl watches the Emmy's for one reason, and one reason only...and that is, to see the dresses!!

I was very disappointed this year with the fashion all the girl's wore. I don't have too many favorites like I do other years, but it did provide me with great entertainment. Also, it seems like everyone was wearing just about the same thing: a one shoulder dress or a strapless dress. (Does that mean that is what's in these days?) Also, I think everyone needs to get out of the rut in picking something that has sequins all over or the slit that reaches the top of their thigh...it doesn't work and its way overdone!

I will start you off with my favorite! At first, I wondered about the bottom of this dress, but the more and more I look at it, the more I love it! It was a great color choice, great cut for her body type, and she looks absolutely elegant. I think the accesories also compliment the dress and her hair color.

I thought this dress was also a nice elegant dress, and I absolutely love the color choice; especially for being the end of August.

I always think red is a great choice for girls with dark hair. This is a true Emmy gown because it is not "look at my clevage" kind of a dress. I don't understand why girls have to have such low cut dresses these days...it's not attactive. This dress say's "I'm a sexy goddess!"

Eva never disappoints me. She always picks something that fits right on her body and she looks great in black. I also like the twist they did with the classic black gown. This is a Totally Safe Dress!

These next two are Hmm...I'm not sure.

I love the white on Kim, but I am not sure I like all the bling around her neck. It's nice to see her in something that makes her look like a lady instead of a "Playboy bunny" wanna be.

I am not sure about this dress either because I don't know if the fabric in the front was just thrown on there or not. However, I love the color, and the shape is fabulous.

What was she thinking? This is not an Emmy gown at all. Don't get me wrong...I think this dress looks fabulous on Carrie. It definitely fits her body and personality to a "t." But come on...
I'm not loving this dress, but I do love the color! I am totally for dark purple hues these days...however, I feel like this should be more of a winter dress instead of a summer/fall dress.
Okay, so I had a great time watching all the ladies come down the red carpet! I always look forward to it, and now I can't wait for next year....Hopefully, they won't disappoint me.

Friday Fill-In

Join in at Wife of A Sailor!

1. What secret indulgence do you act on while your spouse is away?
I get to walk around in my underwear (yes, I know...). Also, I like to know I can sit in his "man chair" and eat as much chocolate as I want without being judged!

2. If you were a spice, what would you be?
I would have to say Parsley! Its so light, but always adds the "va-voom" look to any meal.

(I would like all my reader's to answer this question because I find it so interesting...so leave your response in a comment to this post)

3. Where do you go for support when your significant other is deployed?
After two deployments now, I have found myself going to two different support groups. This is due to the location I am in during them. First deployment, I relied a lot on family because I lived with them and they helped brighten my mood by keeping me busy. I also called my best friend Justine a lot whose husband was also deployed with my husband. We found ourselves calling each other before we went to bed every night just so we had someone to talk to about our day, our worries, or our look forward to moments, etc. During the second deployment, I decided to stay in Italy and I relied on a lot of other military spouses. They would understand that it was the last thing we wanted to talk about, and had the right day trips to get our minds off of worries and to relax.

4. What is the oldest thing you own?
Hmm...I would have to say the oldest thing I own is my old bed set that I got handed down from my uncle. Right now its sitting in my parents garage while I am overseas. I can't wait to get back to the states to get that thing back so I can use it for my guest room.

5. How did you invision your future pre-military?
Before I met Gregg, I had no intention in marrying into the military lifestyle. I always thought I would finish school, marry at the age of 25, have kids at 28, and be happy living in a suburb home. I would picture my husband having a 9-5 job and weekends off, a boy and a girl that were just the darnest things, and more. However, that invision is nothing were I am at now, but I am truly happy with the path it has taken.

It's Been Too Long

Whew! You have no idea how glad I am to finally be right back on track...well, almost; I still have a ton of laundry to do! But I guess I should I clue everyone in on what has been going on since the last time I left you with a post.

Gregg got sent to Germany from Afghanistan due to him being VERY sick. While he was there, he got a colonoscopy and had a few biopsies taken. The doctor there said it would take a while for his results to come in, so he might as well come back to Vicenza with me instead of being stuck in a hotel. So, thats where we are now...good ole home.

Right now, the doctors are saying he has acute colitis, but I don't even think they know what it truely is. We have heard so many things from: cancer to ulcer to IBS to acute colitis...its never ending. They haven't even given him any biotics...just pain pills.

Its a very frustrating process, but its nice to know he is home and I get to have my partner back! Most of the Army wives state they are upset all these husbands are coming back early, but its not as nice as many people may think. He has his days of outrageous pains and I don't know what to do. I am clueless to how he is feeling, and its hard.

I finished last session of school, and so happy it is finally over. The writing was just a bit rediculous, and the review I gave of the glass was nothing but complaints. Tomorrow, I start my math class and Social Psychology. I think I will have my work cut out for me again, but I want to get good grades..so I am going to be working hard the next ten weeks.

I finally start my vacation from work today as well, and can't be any happier! I need a break from that place. I'm not going to lie, I can't wait to be done here in Vicenza so I can quit. Only 7 more months to go, and I am outta here!

My friend Justine finally made it back here awhile ago. Its nice to know she is next door again, but its been hard juggling Gregg, school, work, and seeing her. I am sure she just thinks the worst of me because I have to keep turning her down on invites. Hopefully, in the next couple of days my routine will be back to normal and I will be able to hang out A LOT! So Justine, if you are reading...I am truely sorry!

Anyways, I think that wraps up everything without going on and on. I know how some people can't deal with all the rambling that goes on with blogs. I also noticed I don't have any pictures on this post. I have been bad and not taken any. I will get on that and hopefully have some up soon. Until next time, later!

M.I.A.

Well, I will be missing for awhile...don't know when I will be back. My husband has been battling a gastric ulcer while he has been deployed and the Army decided to send him to the hospital in Germany for further tests. I decided to head up that way and meet him...Wow, after 8 1/2 months, I will be reuniting with him. Its kind of bittersweet...I get to see him and hold him, but he is sick.

I'll try to give updates as I recieve them, but all I can say now is that I made it to Germany, have a room, bored out of my mind, and waiting for the hubby to get here. Who knew I would beat him here?

The drive up here was not to bad except for the fact that I got lost, but found my way there all by myself. The GPS ran out of battery an hour and a half into the trip and I didn't know the lighter thing didn't work until after it went out. S0, the rest of the 8 hour drive was up to written directions.

I got here around 10:00 p.m., but didn't actually get a room until 1:00 a.m. Just to let you know, if you plan on coming this way...don't! The people here are kinda rude and don't like to help you with directions...BOO on Ramstein!

Anyways, Until next time...later!

Top 2 Tuesday On A Wednesday

I know I am doing this a day late, but I don't care because I was super busy yesterday. I will fill you guys in on another post once I get all the pictures. This week for Top 2 Tuesday is Simple Pleasures. Another reason I am doing it a day late is because I love this topic this week!

So, these are my Top 2 Simple Pleasures:
[1] Laying in bed awake all night goofing off with the Hubs!
I love this because it gives us time to goof off. It happens every now and then. When we do this, we usually stay up all night, and are dead tired the next day....But we both agree, its worth it!
[2] Coming home to little Jack (Yorkie) jumping up and down from the excitement of me being home.
I love coming home to my little one doing that because it makes me feel so loved!
